Leeds fans react as Champions League club reportedly plan move for their midfield star
Liverpool and three other clubs reportedly want Kalvin Phillips, but he plans on staying at Leeds – and fans are desperate to see him get a new deal.
Phillips, 25, has been sensational over the last couple of seasons for Leeds – and England. With 218 Leeds games under his belt, he is a fan favourite.
So, after a brilliant couple of season which included promotion and becoming an England regular – Phillips was always going to attract interest.
That is, especially after the Euro 2020 final. 90Min say Champions League quartet Liverpool, Chelsea and both Manchester clubs want to sign Phillips.
However, the report states that Leeds hold the key to his future – not just because they have a contract with Phillips until June 2024.
What are Leeds fans saying about the latest Phillips reports?
But also, because Phillips is happy to stay at the Yorkshire club. However, he wants to sign a new deal that makes him the club’s top earner.
The report says that he earns a fraction of what Raphinha and Patrick Bamford get, which is around £70,000 a week. Phillips could get £100,000.
It is the least Phillips deserves, really. The midfielder is the heartbeat of the Leeds side and last season’s results, without Phillips, is proof of that.
He was missing for nine of the club’s 38 Premier League games – and Leeds lost seven of those nine. Phillips is the club’s best player by some distance.
Leeds fans have had their say on reports that Phillips wants to stay at Elland Road despite interest from Champions League clubs.
