Leeds fans rave about midfielder's second-half moment against Burnley
Leeds rescued a point as Patrick Bamford scored in the same week he got an England call-up – and fans have raved about a moment from Raphinha.
With Leeds staring down the barrel of a second Premier League defeat of the season, the Whites were pushing for an equaliser late on at Turf Moor.
It comes after a tight, but physical first-half – before Chris Wood scored against his old side. Burnley recycled well from a corner.
Liam Cooper’s brave header fell to the feet of Matt Lowton who skewered a shot towards goal. It did not look dangerous, until Wood deflected home.
But Leeds were not done. While they failed to engineer a proper golden chance for an equaliser, they kept the pressure on in a tough match.
What are Leeds fans saying about Raphinha against Burnley?
Eventually, the pressure told. Raphinha, who had been poor for much of the game, cut inside another old Leeds player – in Charlie Taylor.
Some gorgeous skill (as seen above) saw Taylor completed bamboozled on Burnley’s left. His cross was blocked, but Jamie Shackleton found Bamford.
The England striker tapped home to make it 1-1 with a few minutes left. It was the Leeds no.9’s first goal of the season, and caps off a great week.
Not only has he got a call-up for England after months of being linked with a place in Gareth Southgate’s side, but also penned a new five-year deal.
But it was Raphinha’s skill in the build up to the goal that earned more praise from Leeds fans. Many were stunned at his quick feet and trickery.
