Antonio Conte has said the best team deserved to win after Tottenham beat Leeds 2-1 on Sunday – and Leeds fans have questioned the Italian gaffer.
Despite taking the lead through Dan James, Spurs came from behind to win 2-1 after a much-improved second-half display against Marcelo Bielsa’s side.
Leeds were excellent in the first half and had chances to make it more than just one. James was a constant thorn in Tottenham’s side throughout.
But the injury-hit Yorkshire side failed to cope with Spurs in the second half, who also should have had more than two. Harry Kane hit the post.
Ultimately, Spurs held on to win 2-1 – a second win in Conte’s three games. He spoke after the match – praising Leeds, but saying Spurs deserved to win.
“We brought a higher intensity than Leeds and created many chances to score two goals and we deserved to win,” Conte said, as per the YEP.

What are Leeds fans saying as Conte makes Tottenham claim at FT?
It was a game of two halves. Leeds certainly impressed in the first, but the margin of dominance from Spurs in the second 45 might have edged it.
But for Leeds, there are plenty of positives. Bielsa was without many key players – including Luke Ayling, Patrick Bamford, Rodrigo and Raphinha.
Despite that, they came close to picking up a result in London – a place where Leeds are renowned for doing poorly in recent history.
Leeds did have chances in the second 45, with Dan James planting a couple of curling efforts straight at Hugo Lloris. A draw would have been fair, too.
Leeds fans have taken exception to Conte’s comments after full-time, with many of the belief that Leeds deserved at least a point against Tottenham.
