Leeds United temporarily moved back to the top of the Championship table after beating Huddersfield Town in Saturday’s early kick-off – and some of the club’s fans on Twitter picked out goalkeeper Kiko Casilla for a star performance.
The Whites recorded a 2-0 away win against their Yorkshire neighbours and they have now won six league games on the spin.
With Kalvin Phillips unavailable through suspension, Marcelo Bielsa’s team were nowhere near their fluent best in the first-half and had to survive some close chances.
But Ezgjan Alioski broke the deadlock in the 50th minute with a stunning volley from the edge of the box from a corner.
Patrick Bamford wrongly saw a goal ruled out for offside moments later, but Leeds eventually got a second in the 78th minute through Pablo Hernandez’s header.
A selection of Leeds supporters on social media singled out Casilla for tremendous praise for his contribution, as he once again proved decisive in net.
The Spanish shot-stopper now has 11 clean sheets in 20 league games this season and is so much improved on last year.
He made a number of top saves through the contest with Huddersfield, but the standout moment came when at 1-0 he somehow denied a close-range header from Elias Kachunga.
