Leeds United’s Under-23s side drew 2-2 with Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Under-23s team on Friday afternoon – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter reacted after the match to give youngster Joe Gelhardt huge credit for his performance.
Geldhart opened the scoring with a brilliant low finish with his left foot after he showed close control to keep possession in the box, while Sam Greenwood extended Leeds’ advantage at Thorp Arch in the first-half.
Wolves responded with two goals in the second period to draw the fixture, as the Whites earned their first point of the Premier League 2 season.
Gelhardt, 18, is a highly-rated forward that moved to Elland Road this summer from Wigan Athletic and he penned a four-year contract.
The Liverpool-born teenager came through the academy system at Wigan and made 21 first-team appearances before his departure.
He’s initially joined up with Leeds’ youth team, but made an impressive goalscoring start on Friday and looks a really promising player that is dangerous in the final third.

A selection of Leeds supporters on social media were really excited by what they saw from their new striker and some are suggesting he’ll be in Marcelo Bielsa’s senior team soon enough.
