Leeds fans praise ‘insane’ Ezgjan Alioski after beating Derby

Ezgjan Alioski dropped in at left-back in the victory over Derby County in the Championship – and some Leeds United fans on Twitter hailed him for his performance.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side returned to winning ways by cruising to a 2-0 win over Derby at Elland Road, with Kemar Roofe and Jack Harrison on the scoresheet for the hosts.

They now sit five points clear at the top of the table and have a seven-point cushion over third-placed Sheffield United, with their promotion bid in full swing now.

Leeds were without first-choice left-back Barry Douglas for the game, which saw manager Bielsa use versatile Alioski in the position.

Alioski has dropped in at full-back on international duty for Macedonia in the past and former club Lugano, but has predominately been deployed as a winger during his time in Yorkshire.

The 26-year-old has come under immense pressure from supporters in the past over his end product in the final third, but they were much more pleased on Friday with his display in defence.

He enjoyed far more success going forward with overlapping runs from left-back and assisted Harrison’s decisive goal with his pass.

Here are some of the Leeds fans praising Alioski for his performance at full-back:
