Leeds United’s Under-23s side were involved in a thrilling match on Friday in the Premier League 2 fixture away to Newcastle United – and some of the club’s fans on Twitter praised their teenager Joe Gelhardt for his performance.
Mark Jackson’s Leeds side showed their attacking talent by racing into a three-goal lead inside the opening half an hour and it was a sign of the upcoming talent at Elland Road.
Liam McCarron scored a quick-fire double for the Whites, plus there was a penalty that was dispatched from Gelhardt.
But Newcastle stunned Leeds by scoring four unanswered goals to win 4-3, with the winner coming in the 90th minute.

A selection of Leeds supporters on social media were still massively impressed with the contribution of attacker Gelhardt, who assisted a goal with a pulled back pass from the byline to go alongside his penalty.
The 18-year-old forward has been grabbing headlines for the Under-23s team since his summer arrival from Wigan Athletic, which is why many are hopeful he can make the step up to the first-team sooner rather than later.
He’s a physical attacker that is extremely strong for his age, plus he’s got a composure in front of goal and looks a senior player in the making.
