‘Absolutely pivotal’, ‘brilliance’: Some Leeds fans in awe of ‘unplayable’ ace’s display yesterday

A number of Leeds United fans have taken to Twitter to praise Pablo Hernandez’s display as the Whites ran out 1-0 winners at Elland Road in the Championship on Saturday.

Marcelo Bielsa’s charges hosted Reading and secured a 1-0 victory to increase the gap between themselves and third-placed Fulham – who could only claim a draw on Friday night – to five points.

The visitors gave Leeds a tough game but the Whites prevailed thanks to the veteran Spaniard, who made the most of a kind rebound to pick the ball up, weave through the defence and rifle home.

There were plenty of hearts in mouths going into the latter stages of the game, and Kiko Casilla had to be at his best to keep out a George Puscas effort in injury time.

Although Hernandez hasn’t quite hit the heady heights of last season this time round, he’s still more than capable of superb displays, and against the Royals he looked very much back to his best.

As per Leeds United StatZone, the 34-year-old had 98 touches of the ball, 78 percent passing accuracy, made 31 passes in the final third, won four duels and had two shots on target – and of course, the winning goal.

Here is how some Leeds fans reacted to Hernandez’s display on social media:

Up next for Leeds is Wednesday night’s Championship trip to Middlesbrough.
