Leeds fans loved Phillips’ performance in routine victory away against Reading

Leeds United kept their automatic promotion hopes on course with a comfortable 3-0 victory away from home against struggling Reading last night.

Mateusz Klich’s opening goal on 14 minutes was followed up by two further first half strikes from Pablo Hernandez to put the Royals to the sword and keep Leeds on the pace.

A clean sheet away from home also bodes well for the run-in, and was needed on a night when Sheffield United also showed their battling qualities to win 2-0 against Brentford with 10 men for 55 minutes.

Kalvin Phillips has played in the back four at times this season but he played as a holding midfielder at the Madejski Stadium last night, impressing once more.

As ever this season, Phillips was disciplined and once more showed quality on the ball, leading one supporter to tip him for an England call-up soon.
