Leeds fans impressed by Tottenham Under-23 star during 4-2 defeat
Leeds United’s Under-23 side suffered their first defeat of the Premier League 2 season with a 4-2 loss to Tottenham’s second string on Monday. Jack Clarke faced his old side for the North London club, returning to Thorp Arch. Leeds fans were impressed with Tottenham talent Dilan Markanday.
Little surprise. The 20-year-old attacker notched three goals and took his tally to four Premier League 2 goals with a brilliant hat-trick. An enthralling first-half saw Leeds come from two behind, before Spurs notched a third in first-half injury time. Markanday got all three in an end-to-end game.
What are Leeds fans saying about Tottenham talent Markanday?
Sam Greenwood was in fine fettle for Leeds. With Markanday putting Spurs 2-0 up, Leeds got themselves back into it by as Greenwood looped a cross into the path of Joe Gelhardt who slid home. Greenwood then found the back of the net with an excellent penalty as Leeds got back on terms.
But Markanday undone that hard work with a third in first-half injury time. The second half, in comparison was not as high-paced – but Tottenham helped that by sitting back after netting a fourth through Nile John. Leeds fans were incredibly impressed by Tottenham ace Markanday on Twitter.
