Eddie Nketiah made his Leeds United debut in the win over Salford City on Tuesday night – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter were raving about his quality.
The Whites secured a routine 3-0 away victory at the League Two club in the first round of the Carabao Cup.
Marcelo Bielsa made seven changes to his side for the cup fixture from the weekend and a number of fringe managed to impress.
Nketiah made his first start for the Yorkshire giants since joining on loan from Arsenal this summer and made an immediate impact.
The 20-year-old centre-forward opening the scoring just before half-time, as he made his run inside the six-yard box and converted a Helder Costa cross.
Leeds then extended their lead in the second period with goals from Gaetano Berardi and Mateusz Klich.
They turn their attention to a trip to Wigan Athletic in the league on Saturday and remain unbeaten so far this season across all competitions after three games.
A selection of Leeds supporters on social media hailed Nketiah after his positive display, before he was substitute off for teammate Patrick Bamford on 77 minutes.
The striker showed some brilliant movement, albeit against lower league Salford, and an excellent turn of pace.
He impressed with Arsenal’s first-team during pre-season and it looks like the Whites may have pulled off some excellent business in bringing him to Elland Road.
Here are some Leeds fans commenting on Nketiah:
Nketiah’s movement & touch is very good!! He just needs a few starts to build that confidence now #LUFC

Can’t wait for Nketiah to score 30 goals for us… And then goes back to Arsenal #lufc

Exactly the sort of goal I wanted to see Nketiah score. Poacher’s goal. Finishing off a good move #lufc

Fair play to Salford . Set up really well and made it difficult for us to get much of a foothold. Once we grew into the game we played some nice football. Nketiah looks a player. Excellent movement off the ball. He’ll get goals if he gets the service #lufc #MOT
