Leeds fans hail Liam Cooper’s Scotland performance against Czech Republic

Liam Cooper completed 90 minutes of action for Scotland on Monday night – and some Leeds United fans responded on Twitter by giving their defender huge praise for his international performance.

Scotland overcame an early setback to win 2-1 away against Czech Republic, albeit the hosts had a makeshift XI due to the fact their whole squad from last week had entered quarantine.

Lyndon Dykes and Ryan Christie scored for Steve Clarke’s Scotland to secure three points in the Nations League fixture.

Cooper earned just his third senior cap for Scotland in the match and looked impressive as the left-sided centre-back in a three-man defence.

The 29-year-old left-footer stepped up to the international stage with relative ease once again, as he was strong defensively when he needed to be and also slick in possession.

His confidence will be at an all-time high after captaining Leeds to promotion from the Championship last season as title-winners and under manager Marcelo Bielsa at Elland Road he’s become very confident with the ball at his feet.

A selection of Leeds supporters on social media gave their centre-back big praise for his display and he will now return to Yorkshire ahead of his club’s return to the Premier League this weekend against reigning champions Liverpool.
