Leeds fans hail Helder Costa for his performance in the win over Fulham

Leeds United recorded their first points of the new season in a dramatic win over Fulham – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter were left waxing lyrical about their player Helder Costa for his performance.

The Whites hosted Premier League football at Elland Road for the first time in 16 years and beat fellow newly-promoted side Fulham 4-3 in a thriller.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side were on the wrong end of a 4-3 scoreline in their opening game of the league season away to Liverpool, but this time came out winners against their London visitors.

Leeds found themselves 4-1 ahead at one stage and were coasting in the match, but a comeback from the visitors made it 4-3 with over 20 minutes to go and it was a nervous ending for the Yorkshire club.

Patrick Bamford and Mateusz Klich were both on the scoresheet for Leeds, but the main star of the show for them was Costa.

The 26-year-old right-winger scored two brilliant goals on his left foot and proved he’s ready to make the permanent step up to the top-flight.

A selection of Leeds supporters on social media were amazed by the quality of their Portuguese winger and one suggested he’s looked a different player in the top division so far.
