The agent of Boca Juniors midfielder Nahitan Nandez has told Argentine outlet El Crack Deportivo that his client wants to play under Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa – and Leeds fans have gone into meltdown.
CalcioMercato claimed last month that Leeds United and Newcastle United were rivalling a handful of Italian clubs for the 23-year-old midfielder. He has a contract until the summer of 2020.
The report claims interested parties would have to spend £17million to land the Uruguay international, who featured for his country at the 2018 World Cup in Russia last summer.
Now, Nandez’s agent Pablo Bentancur has said his client wants to play under Leeds boss Bielsa amid rumours of a move to Elland Road. Asked about a move to Italian side Cagliari, this is what Bentancur had to say.
“I prefer to leave it as an alternative option, I spoke with important clubs in Europe and he told me that he would like to play with Bielsa,” Bentancur said.
Nandez already boasts a big reputation after playing at the World Cup and starring in the Copa Libertadores final at Real Madrid’s Santiago Bernabeu. He is a central midfielder with enormous talent.
Leeds fans have gone crazy on Twitter at the prospect of landing Nandez, though the likelihood that he moves to Yorkshire depends on whether Leeds gain promotion from the Championship.
