West Bromwich Albion secured a last-gasp win over Preston North End as Charlie Austin scored the only goal of the game from the penalty spot in injury time – and Leeds United fans are fuming on Twitter.

West Brom dominated the first half and were unlucky not to find the back of the net, Matt Phillips coming close with a couple of efforts from the edge of the box. Daniel Johnson was denied in the second 45 by a stunning stop from Sam Johnstone.

It was in injury time that the deadlock was finally broken. Kyle Edwards broke through the Preston defence, which had held secure throughout before going under the challenge of goalkeeper Declan Rudd.

Replays showed that the 21-year-old had gone to ground before Rudd was able to make contact. However, referee Oliver Langford pointed to the spot and Austin obliged to win all three points late on.

The win sees the Baggies continue their stunning form under Slaven Bilic, winning five consecutive league games. After 19 games, West Brom have returned to the top with 42 points and Leeds sit in second on 40. Fulham are in third on 35.

But after seeing their side overtaken thanks to the penalty decision on Monday night, Leeds fans are fuming on Twitter and made their feelings very clear towards the West Brom star for his theatrics.
