Arsenal are reportedly set to keep Eddie Nketiah this month rather than sending him on loan for a second time with plenty of Championship clubs interested – and that decision has left Leeds United fans outraged on Twitter.
Nketiah, 20, returned to Arsenal earlier on in the January window with the Gunners disappointed about his lack of game time. The England Under-21 star started just four of his 19 appearances for Leeds, scoring five goals.
It was believed Nketiah would be sent on loan for a second time in order for the striker to further his development at a side that would start him more times than they would leave him on the bench. Something Leeds could not provide Nketiah.
But Sky Sports have now claimed Arsenal have performed a u-turn after Nketiah and Mikel Arteta staged talks over his future. It is believed Nketiah has impressed Arteta in training, and with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang suspended, he is set to stay.
Championship trio Bristol City, Nottingham Forest and Sheffield Wednesday were all said to be interested and in talks with Arsenal over a move for Nketiah. But they will have to search elsewhere with Nketiah expected to remain in north London.
It was accepted as a fair decision among the majority of Leeds fans when Nketiah was recalled, given his lack of starts. But Leeds fans are now fuming with Arsenal, given he is hardly going to get the game time he requires at The Emirates.
Arsenal keeping Nketiah is hilarious in one way, because I'd actually pay to see Lee Johnson's reaction, but Arsenal recalled him because they weren't happy with his game time. They aren;'t going to play him more than we were… Cheers lads. #lufc

Baffled by Nketiah, surely you would grind out your first professional loan spell rather than returning back to sit in the Arsenal U23. #Lufc

So he’d probably got more game time staying at Leeds!! Ffs!!

Here’s my prediction. Nketiah will get some minutes for Arsenal in their 3 games in Jan to cover Aubameyang suspension, then end up re-signing for Leeds on Jan 31st when we fail to sign a replacement striker, lol. #lufc
