Leeds fans fume with ‘atrocious’ defender Luke Ayling after win against Rotherham

Luke Ayling completed 90 minutes in the win against Rotherham United in the Championship – and many Leeds United fans on Twitter raged at him for his performance.

The Yorkshire club ensured they stay top of the league table with a victory and are now six points clear of third-placed Sheffield United.

It took a second-half comeback inspired by two-goal midfield hero Mateusz Klich to earn a 2-1 win away to Rotherham.

They had lost three of their last four league games going into the weekend’s fixture and got a much-needed three points to keep in pole position for a return to the top flight.

A selection of Leeds fans on social media were not pleased with defender Ayling for his overall display despite the win.

The 27-year-old returned to the first team from injury last month and has resumed his usual position as the first-choice right-back.

But his levels appear to have dipped of late with some mixed defensive performances and he’s not providing the same attacking output he was earlier in the season.

Some Leeds fans believe that rising youngster Jamie Shackleton can give him a run for his money at right-back.
