Leeds United suffered a crushing defeat to Nottingham Forest on Saturday evening in the Championship – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter raged at defender Liam Cooper for his performance.

The Whites were beaten 2-0 away to Nottingham Forest at the City Ground and it was another huge dent in their promotion bid.

Sammy Ameobi opened the scoring in the first-half with his low driven shot, but there were question marks as goalkeeper Kiko Casilla was beaten at his near post.

Despite Leeds’ best efforts to equalise, Forest held on to secure a win and added a second in the 94th minute on the counter attack.

The Yorkshire giants have lost four out of their last five league matches and seen their advantage inside the automatic promotion spots completely wiped out.

Leeds do remain second in the Championship table, but are now only ahead of third-placed Fulham on goal difference and fourth-placed Forest are just a point adrift.

A selection Leeds supporters on social media were left fuming with club captain Cooper for his display against Forest.

The 28-year-old centre-back struggled against tenacious forward Lewis Grabban, while he also saw a free header saved on the goal-line to deny an equaliser
