Leeds United suffered a big blip in their hunt for automatic promotion from the Championship, losing 1-0 to Sheffield United on Saturday afternoon – and fans are frustrated with striker Patrick Bamford.

The Whites had a number of chances throughout the match, with Tyler Roberts hitting the post. Bamford should have also hit the back of the net, but Marcelo Bielsa’s side could not find the back of the net.

Leeds were made to pay for their wastefulness – with the stats reading 17 shots but none on target. Chris Basham broke past the Leeds defence on the counter attack and slotted the ball home on 71 minutes.

Things got bad to worse for Leeds. Goalkeeper Kiko Casilla was sent off in the 91st minute and with Bielsa having made three substitutes, Pontus Jansson was forced to go in goal.

Bamford had been in excellent form leading up to the match. He had scored four goals in the previous five games, but was nullified by Chris Wilder’s men. The Blades’ work rate eventually pushed aside the flair of Leeds.

Leeds fans reacted on Twitter to Bamford’s display against the Blades, with many struggling to understand how Leeds’ number nine – that joined the Whites for £7million (Mail).
