Matheus Pereira put Swansea to the sword on Saturday afternoon at The Hawthorns with a stunning performance as Slaven Bilic’s side returned to the top of the Championship with a 5-1 win – and Leeds fans have drooled over Pereira on Twitter.
Pereira, 23, has been in stunning form for the Baggies since joining the club on a season-long loan from Sporting Lisbon. He has scored five times – one against Swansea – and laid on a stunning 14 assists in 19 games.
Semi Ajayi opened the scoring after Kyle Bartley headed a Pereira corner across goal, before Pereira made it two – sweeping a left-footed effort into the bottom corner. Sam Surridge continued his rise with a goal, but West Brom were rampant.

Pereira created the third, as West Brom won the ball high up the pitch and played in Hal Robson-Kanu. For West Brom’s fourth, Pereira’s genius was on full show, as he won the ball back and chipped a delightful cross into Matt Phillips.
Sliding the ball into Kyle Edwards to make it five, Pereira finished the match with a goal and three assists – a simply stunning performance from the Brazilian. The Express & Star claims West Brom have to pay £8.25million to sign him permanently.
The Athletic’s Leeds writer Phil Hay suggested that if Leeds could sign any Championship player, Pereira would be the one and Leeds fans agreed – applauding his performance for The Baggies despite West Brom overtaking Leeds into first with the win.
