Leeds fans drool over Aston Villa star after whirlwind clash

Leeds United and Aston Villa played out an enthralling 1-1 draw at Elland Road on Sunday that saw controversy overshadow an excellent encounter – and Leeds fans have drooled over defender Tyrone Mings.

Matuesz Klich scored a controversial opener for Leeds, as Tyler Roberts looked as though he was going to kick the ball out of play for Jonathan Kodjia to receive treatment.

It sparked a mass brawl, which saw Anwar El Ghazi sent off. Patrick Bamford and Conor Hourihane were shown yellow cards. Marcelo Bielsa ordered his Leeds players to allow Villa to score an equaliser.

In what was a fast-paced, feisty dress rehearsal ahead of a potential Championship play-off clash, plenty impressed including on-loan Aston Villa defender Mings.

A rock at the back, the former Ipswich Town defender was right in the thick of it. Plenty of defensive blocks, tackles and headers were combined with his attempts to diffuse moments where tempers boiled over.

Indeed, Mings pulled Klich away from his angry Villa teammates after the Poland international had netted. Though some are of the belief that Mings did not help, it is clear to see that he was trying to calm things down.

A handful of Leeds fans ignored the controversy to comment on Mings’ performance, with many impressed. One fan posted that he “would love him” at Leeds. The £8million defender (EADT) does not have a permanent clause in his loan deal.
