Leeds United’s Under-23 side rounded off their promotion-winning campaign with an excellent 5-2 win over Burnley on Monday afternoon at Thorp Arch – but Leeds fans were not impressed with an incident during the second half.

Mark Jackson’s side have already gained promotion to the top tier of Premier League 2 after an excellent campaign that has seen Leeds go from strength to strength – though helped on a regular basis by fringe players in the firsts.

Indeed, Rodrigo, Gaetano Berardi, Jamie Shackleton and Kiko Casilla all featured on Monday as Leeds won 5-2 against Burnley. Cody Drameh opened the scoring, his first goal of the season. Niall Huggins nabbed a second.

Then came the incident. Crysencio Summerville – on at half-time – won a penalty, after being taken out by the Burnley goalkeeper. What followed annoyed Leeds fans, as he argued with Sam Greenwood over taking the penalty.

Greenwood, or Joe Gelhardt, have taken the penalties all season and with Gelhardt not involved, Greenwood was allocated with taking the penalties. Petulantly, Summerville argued continuously to take the spot-kick.

He was even booked before Greenwood eventually got a hold of the ball and scored. Summerville did score next, from open play before Greenwood got another goal – his 12th of the season – as Leeds earned an excellent win.

But fans were not impressed, and reacted on Twitter to the incident – criticising 19-year-old summer signing Summerville for his actions.
