Leeds fans discuss Tyler Roberts after netting in Under-23 win over West Brom

It has been a difficult few weeks for Tyler Roberts. Initially being a crucial part of the Leeds United side, he has dropped out of favour in recent weeks – but Whites fans were impressed with his Under-23 display on Monday.

Roberts, 21, made decent substitute appearances against Liverpool and then Fulham and even started the matches that saw Leeds pick up four points against Sheffield United and Man City. But since then, game time has been rare.

Of the last five matches since his early involvement, Roberts has been an unused substitute three times and clocked up just 42 minutes of action in the other two games combined – coming on against Palace and Leicester.

With Raphinha starting and Rodrigo fit, Wales international Roberts remained on the bench as Leeds failed to beat Arsenal. But the ex-West Brom man did feature for 45 minutes for the Under-23 side on Monday – and scored.

Coming on for the last 45, Roberts equalised with a neat finish on the edge of the area. It saw a Leeds side that included Kiko Casilla, Leif Davis, Ian Poveda, Sam Greenwood and Helder Costa draw level.

Is It Harder To Win Than The Euros Than The World Cup?!

Portugal international Costa won the match with a stunning solo run and finish, to the delight of Leeds fans on social media. Many were full of praise for Roberts, with one fan describing him as the “next Gareth Bale”.
