Michael Cuisance saw a move to Leeds reportedly fail because of a medical in the summer, instead joining Marseille and he played against Manchester City in the Champions League on Tuesday – prompting reaction from Leeds fans.
Cuisance, 21, has caught the eye around Europe after breaking into Bayern Munich’s senior team on numerous occasions last season. He even scored a stunning left-footed effort in a win over Wolfsburg.
That convinced Leeds to pay a whopping £18million (Mail) to lure the France Under-20 international to Elland Road, with Illan Meslier a national teammate. However, a medical failed at the final hurdle, and Leeds pulled out.
Marseille chose to take a risk on Cuisance, instead signing him on a loan-to-buy deal from Bayern Munich. He has since played four times under Andre Villas-Boas, starting against Manchester City on Tuesday night.
Goals from Ferran Torres, Ilkay Gundogan and Raheem Sterling saw Manchester City ease to a 3-0 away win in France. Cuisance lasted the majority of the match, eventually being replaced on 85 minutes.
Leeds supporters watched on and reacted on Twitter to the young French star’s efforts against Manchester City – a side that Leeds drew 1-1 with earlier this season. Many fans think the Whites have dodged a bullet.
