Leeds United suffered a 1-0 defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Monday night after a Raul Jimenez shot was deflected into the back of his own net by Kalvin Phillips – and Leeds fans discussed Jack Harrison’s display.

Leeds came into the match with somewhat of a centre-back crisis going on. Diego Llorente suffered injury while on international duty with Spain, while Liam Cooper was a doubt. The latter was due to start.

However, the Scottish star chose not to play after feeling the injury in the warm-up. Pascal Struijk – still largely a rookie – was his replacement at centre-back. The two sides played out a somewhat equal match, with little chances.

Illan Meslier was forced into a couple of routine saves, tipping an effort from Daniel Podence round the post in the second half. Patrick Bamford had a header ruled out for offside in the first 45.

But the difference came when Jimenez twisted and turned on the edge of the Leeds box, before his right-footed effort was inadvertently headed into his own net by Phillips. Harrison, 23, impressed.

Coming up against former Barcelona man Nelson Semedo on the left flank, he got the better of the Portugal on numerous occasions. Leeds fans applauded their £15,000-a-week (Spotrac) ace on Twitter, who was replaced by new signing Raphinha in the 82nd minute.
