Crysencio Summerville made his Leeds United Under-23’s debut for on Friday afternoon as the Whites earned a 1-0 win over Middlesbrough’s second string in their fourth Premier League 2 outing – and Whites fans have responded on Twitter.
Mark Jackson’s men came into the match on the back of an excellent 3-1 win over Sunderland on Monday afternoon – in which new signing Sam Greenwood scored a hat-trick. And it was that man again that provided the difference.
The Whites earned their second win in four league games with an 85th-minute winner, after being put through on goal. The ex-Arsenal star finished with aplomb, placing the ball underneath the Boro goalkeeper.
Summerville, 18, joined Leeds from Feyenoord for a believed to be in the region of £900,000 (Di Marzio) last month – and was an unused substitute during the win over Sunderland earlier this week. However, on Friday, he started and finished the match.
Though he endured a quiet first 45, Summerville’s blistering pace became a huge asset to Leeds in the second half. While the Netherlands Under-19 star did not score, he put a number of excellent crosses into the box.
Leeds fans reacted to their summer signing’s debut for the club’s reserve side and many applauded his efforts, with one fan even claiming he is the “Dutch Dan James”.
