Leeds United have all-but-secured their top-flight status for another season following Sunday’s draw with Chelsea. Investment is expected in the summer to take Marcelo Bielsa’s side to the next level, with the top-half of the table likely to be the new target.
There are a number of areas that could do with some strengthening. Clearly, Leeds need to bring in a replacement for Gjanni Alioski at left-back – with the North Macedonia international out of contract at the end of the season.
Stuart Dallas has been used regularly in the middle of the park, despite starting the season at left-back. Romain Perraud has been strongly linked after an impressive season at Brest, while The Mirror claim Crystal Palace’s Patrick van Aanholt has been eyed.
But left-back is not the only position that requires strengthening. Indeed, a new midfielder to cover the likes of Mateusz Klich and Dallas is ideal – as well as a striker and back-up to Kalvin Phillips. But Leeds certainly need a player in Klich’s mould.

Klich has starred for Leeds during Bielsa’s reign – starting 93 of the 94 Championship fixtures that Bielsa took charge of. But at times this season, the Poland international has struggled with the pace of the Premier League, and he turns 31 in the summer.
They need a box-to-box midfielder that can score goals, create but also prove hard-working in his defensive displays. The Express have stated that the perfect player could be available for a bargain £9million – in the form of Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher.
Gallagher, 21, has sprung onto the scene after a loan spell during the second half of the 2019-20 season on loan at Swansea – where he laid on seven assists in 21 games. This season, he has starred on loan at West Brom – despite the Baggies campaign.
Clocking up 25 appearances in midfield, Gallagher has had a hand in four goals – scoring two and creating two. But not just that, Gallagher has been excellent defensively and caught the plaudits of fans for his work rate under Sam Allardyce.

Gallagher has been excellent and it is likely that clubs are expected to come in for the Chelsea ace. Indeed, Crystal Palace are considering the England Under-21 international – with a fee of just £9million said to be enough to lure him to Selhurst Park.
That is a bargain price for a player that is still only 21, is English – but is also showing enormous quality in the Premier League already. Signing him for £9million means Leeds – or any other club – would be landing a player with massive resale value.
Leeds fans have discussed Gallagher and believe that the midfielder would be a very good addition to Marcelo Bielsa’s side in the coming months, and one fan thinks that Bielsa could be the right coach to help Gallagher maximise his potential.
