Mallik Winks has completed a move away from Leeds United to join Barnsley – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter are not pleased with the news.
The Whites have confirmed on their official website that the 20-year-old attacker has joined Barnsley on a permanent basis for an undisclosed fee.
He has come through the academy ranks at Elland Road and had loan spells at Accrington Stanley, Grimsby Town and Doncaster Rovers.
The winger played 55 games for Doncaster last season across all competitions, scoring 16 goals and supplying 12 assists in return.
Barnsley are preparing for life in the Championship after earning promotion from League One last season and have made a new attacking addition.
Wilks played just one senior game during his time at Leeds and could well be lining up against them this campaign.
A selection of Leeds supporters on social media are convinced that allowing him to leave is a mistake.
They feel that the youngster has immense potential and that he could perhaps have made an impact in Marcelo Bielsa’s squad for the upcoming campaign.
The skilful winger certainly has an eye for goal and impressed in League One with Doncaster, but it will be a step up to the Championship.
Here are some Leeds fans reacting to the Wilks departure:
Ffs give the lad a chance

Why would we get rid a promising player, really deserved a chance in our first team this season, very poor from the club

Strange move.. Would like a reason for this as he played well enough last season to be given a chance..
