Leeds fans deliver verdict on Ben White’s performance against Tadcaster

Leeds United enjoyed a comfortable 5-1 win over Tadcaster Albion on Wednesday evening largely thanks to a Ryan Edmondson hat-trick – and Leeds fans have applauded new signing Ben White for his display.

Marcelo Bielsa split his squad down the middle last week, taking 16 players to Australia to take on Manchester United – which resulted in a 4-0 loss – and Western Sydney Wanderers on Saturday.

New signings and international players have remained at Elland Road, including the likes of Gjanni Alioski, Mateusz Klich, Helder Costa and indeed defender White, who joined the club on a season-long loan from Brighton.

A mix of experienced talent and youthful exuberance started against Tadcaster, then, with Klich, Alioski and Costa lining up alongside Robbie Gotts, Leif Davis, Kun Temenuzhkov and Ryan Edmondson.

It was the latter that stole the show. Edmondson scored a super hat-trick to earn Leeds a big win, while Jack Clarke scored an excellent left-footed effort and Gotts also got in on the action with a neat finish off the post.

But White caught the eye again after impressing in the 2-1 win over Guiseley. Many were sceptical when the young defender was signed from Brighton, after only regularly playing as high as League One.

However, White has so far proved the doubters wrong. His excellent long-passing ability has impressed fans, as has his strength in the air and defensive maturity for a player of just 21 years of age. Leeds fans reacted on Twitter.
