Leeds United are reportedly interested in Newcastle United attacker Dwight Gayle – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter are excited by the speculation.
Marcelo Bielsa’s team could be about to lose striker Kemar Roofe, who is in talks with Belgian club Anderlecht about a £8million move (Daily Mail).
According to the Daily Star, Leeds are going to move for Gayle if they need a replacement for Roofe.
The report explains that the Whites could battle Championship club Stoke City for his signature.
It is understood that Premier League outfit Newcastle would grant his temporary exit, with manager Steve Bruce open to sending him on a season-long loan.
Gayle scored 24 times across all competitions last season during a loan with West Brom and it looks like he could be on his way out of St James’ Park again.
The 28-year-old rapid centre-forward has proven himself to be lethal at Championship level and it seems like he may not feature in the plans of Bruce at Newcastle.

A selection of Leeds supporters on social media are convinced Gayle would be a brilliant addition at Elland Road, with one even stating he would be a “missing link” for the team.
He would certainly bring a major goal threat, as he’s an excellent finisher in the box and likes to run the channels.
Roofe’s potential departure would be a blow, but the Newcastle ace is arguably a better goalscorer and maybe even an upgrade.
