Aapo Halme left Leeds United in the summer to join Barnsley and the Finnish colossus scored a crucial goal for his new side on Boxing Day, equalising late on against West Bromwich Albion – to the delight of Leeds fans.
Halme, 21, failed to break into Marcelo Bielsa’s side last season on a regular basis and it saw the Whites allow him to leave in the summer. He moved to Barnsley, as did Clarke Oduor and Mallik Wilks. Alex Mowatt is captain of the Tykes.
Ahead of Leeds’ clash against Preston in the Championship’s early-evening kick-off against Preston at Elland Road, all eyes were on whether West Brom could earn three points against Barnsley.

A mistake from goalkeeper Samuel Radlinger saw Filip Krovinovic score from all of 25 yards in the fifth minute, but Barnsley held firm with the score remaining at 1-0. It saw the Tykes remain in the clash right until the final whistle.
Indeed, they took advantage, as Halme scored his third goal of the season for Barnsley. A cross from Oduor was well controlled by in-form playmaker Conor Chaplin, and his low cross was expertly flicked into the back of the net by Halme.
Leeds fans were delighted as 6ft 4in Halme scored for Barnsley on Boxing Day, to cancel out three points for West Brom and limit the Baggies to just a point. Unfortnately for Leeds fans, the Whites could only draw against Preston.
