Leeds United were narrowly beaten at home to Everton on Wednesday night – but some of the club’s fans on Twitter did give credit to defender Luke Ayling for his individual performance.
The Whites were beaten 2-1 at Elland Road by Merseyside club Everton, who won courtesy of first-half goals from Gylfi Sigurdsson and Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
Marcelo Bielsa’s men reduced the deficit through Raphinha’s goal early in the second-half, but they couldn’t find an equaliser despite plenty of pressure and clear goalscoring chances.
The Yorkshire club went into the fixture off the back of two consecutive league victories and the Everton result meant they missed the chance to climb into the top half of the division table.

A selection of Leeds supporters on social media believe that their defender Ayling impressed against Everton with his all-action display.
The 29-year-old right-back was his usual self when it came to hard running for 90 minutes and most of the attacking threat came from his side of the pitch, as he continued to making overlapping runs.
He’s got a great combination with wide player Raphinha, who was another that really caught the eye in defeat to European hopefuls Everton.
