Leeds United won the first leg of a play-off semi-final against Derby County on Saturday – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter picked out defender Luke Ayling for big praise.

The Whites lead Derby 1-0 thanks to Kemar Roofe’s second-half strike and it gives them something to defend in the second leg at Elland Road next week.

Marcelo Bielsa’s team have dusted themselves off after missing out on automatic promotion and have kicked off the play-off campaign in great fashion.

Meanwhile, Aston Villa lead West Brom 2-1 after their first leg and have become favourites to reach the final Wembley.

A selection of Leeds fans feel that Ayling’s performance at the weekend was in keeping with his form of late.

The 27-year-old right-back has been inconsistent over the course of this campaign, but right now is looking brilliant and a key part of Bielsa’s set-up.

He provides a huge attacking threat when he bombs forward from full-back, something that he did to great effect against Derby.

The Englishman has six assists across all competitions this season and he is going to be vital once again in the second leg against Derby.

The defensive side of Ayling’s game is benefiting too due to the confident form and was part of a strong backline at the weekend.

Here are some Leeds fans that are delighted with Ayling:
