Pontus Jansson has told Swedish outlet Fotbollskanalen that he is still a huge admirer of Leeds United and misses playing for the Premier League side, also stating he is still in contact with players and Andrea Radrizzani – and Leeds fans have reacted.
Jansson, 30, joined Leeds in the summer of 2016 initially on loan from Serie A side Torino. The Sweden international became a mainstay under Garry Monk alongside Kyle Bartley – and then starred during Marcelo Bielsa’s first season at the club.
But after 120 games, he was sold. Rumours have since come out that Jansson was let go as he was to big an ego in the dressing room, while Bielsa was not impressed with his decision to contest conceding a goal to Aston Villa during that 1-1 draw.
Now Brentford captain, Jansson’s side are in the hunt for promotion but after initially looking like certainties to gain promotion – they find themselves in the play-off places. He told Fotbollskanalen he misses Leeds and Elland Road.

“To be completely honest, I miss Leeds and love Leeds, but I’m in a place in life where I’m incredibly happy with where I am now at my new club and how appreciated I am there“, Jansson said. “But it is clear that I miss Leeds, my team-mates and the club.
“You who follow them know that it was something special. I will love Leeds for the rest of my life and follow them. I have a pretty close relationship with many of the players, I still often talk to Andrea [Radrizzani].“
Jansson has only just returned to action after a long injury lay-off in which he was forced to go under the knife. But he is back fit, thought not a part of the Sweden squad that was picked for this month’s international. He is likely to feature at the Euros.
Leeds fans reacted to his comments, and many – though some were against Jansson – applauded him, stating they miss him too, following his £5.5million (TalkSPORT) exit to Brentford.
