Leeds United fans are hoping Patrick Bamford can finish the season strongly following confirmation today that this summer’s EUROs will see nations be allowed to bring 26 players to the tournament rather than the previous number of 23.
UEFA confirmed on their official website that countries competing in the EUROs will be granted three extra players for the continental tournament in response to allowing more rest time for those who will be called up after a long league campaign, with most clubs not having a pre-season for this year given the condensed schedule.
The news was well-received on social media as it allows players to earn more rest from this season as well as offers the opportunity for three more names to make the final squad for the EUROs, and for Leeds supporters, they are hoping a strong finish from Bamford could see the striker claim a spot in Gareth Southgate’s team.
Here’s what some Leeds fans had to say about the news, and Bamford’s chances, on Twitter…
Oh please give him a shot! 💙

Would be super happy for Pat if he got in but think I’d rather he had the whole summer off than sit on the bench for a month.

Needs to get some goals in the last few games

He needs to find some form for Leeds first of all. He’s suffered quite a lot with the more defensive system of recent games, as he does not operate well as an isolated target man, needs the whole attack with him. Hopefully we get it back soon!
