Leeds fans and Barry Douglas react to Kemar Roofe strike for Rangers

Kemar Roofe scored a stunning goal for Rangers in their Europa League clash against Standard Liege away from home as Steven Gerrard’s side produced an excellent 2-0 win – and Leeds fans have responded, as has Barry Douglas.

Rangers looked to build on their excellent start to the season and Saturday’s win over Celtic by getting off to the ideal start in Europe with three points in Belgium. An exciting Standard Liege stood in their way.

But the Gers were well on their way to three points when a Standard Liege defender handled in his own box, allowing captain James Tavernier to score his ninth goal in 15 games. He also has five assists for the season.

In a rain-soaked pitch that even affected the run of the ball, Roofe came off the bench and in the dying moments, he went past a handful of Liege players before smashing an effort from inside his own half into the Liege net.

It saw Rangers pick up their 12th clean sheet in 15 games in all competitions. Roofe scored just his third goal in seven appearances for Rangers since his £4.5million (Derniere Heure) move to Ibrox from Anderlecht.

Leeds fans reacted on Twitter to Roofe’s goal, as did former Leeds teammate and boyhood Rangers fan Barry Douglas. Some Whites supporters suggested the ex-Anderlecht man should return to Elland Road.
