Leeds fans amazed by Raphinha's moment of pure genius against Southampton

Leeds United made it three Premier League wins in a row on Tuesday night with a 2-0 away win over Southampton in front of some returning Saints fans – and Whites fans cannot get enough of Raphinha’s moment of genius.

The Whites came into the match full of confidence and with the chance to climb into a lofty eighth position in the Premier League, with both Arsenal and Everton in action on Wednesday night. They needed a win, and got just that.

A close affair throughout, Southampton probably edged the first half but the scoreline remained 0-0 – despite Marcelo Bielsa bringing Kiko Casilla into the side and resting Illan Meslier. Liam Cooper also started in defence.

Leeds dominated the second 45 and the difference came when Rodrigo’s gorgeous pass was expertly watched by Patrick Bamford, who then flicked home his 16th goal of the season – between Alex McCarthy’s legs.

Leeds held on despite a few glimpses of a late push from Southampton to secure a third successive win, a second clean sheet in a row. A late second came from substitute Tyler Roberts, who calmly finished his first Premier League goal into the back of the net, after a brilliant injury-time break from Leeds.

But a moment from 24-year-old Raphinha caught the attention of Leeds fans on Twitter.

On 75 minutes, the Brazilian beautifully controlled a long ball from Pascal Struijk and glided past three Southampton players before firing over. Leeds fans are amazed by the moment in question, and their winger’s first touch.
