Leeds United have been rocked by an injury crisis in recent weeks and Ryan Edmondson is now the man Marcelo Bielsa should call upon.
Wales international Tyler Roberts was given his opportunity to impress in Saturday’s clash with Millwall but struggled to get going in the match, raising speculation that Bielsa should shake-up his forward line once again for Tuesday’s tie with Preston.
The woes for Bielsa come amidst injuries to Patrick Bamford and Kemar Roofe, both of whom are due to spend time on the sidelines, which leaves the Argentine boss with three inexperienced options to consider; Roberts, Edmondson and Jack Clarke.
After finally earning his Championship debut on Saturday, Roberts may be feeling frustrated after failing to make an impression and Bielsa needs to find the right man to fill in the void to end a minor slump for the Peacocks – who have drawn their last two games.
Edmondson made his Championship debut on the final day of last season as a reward for his fine performances for the youth ranks. While he is still just 17, he could provide the edge that Leeds lacked against Millwall.
Rotating the strikers amidst the injury absences would help to provide competition among the aforementioned trio and could then provide improvements in the performances of all three players, which could, in turn, bring the best out of Roberts.
