Luke Ayling joined the injury list at Leeds United and Marcelo Bielsa must be worried about his defensive options.
With Gaetano Berardi also out and Barry Douglas just returning from his lay-off, Leeds have a bit of an injury crisis at the back.
They do not have much depth in their squad so they cannot afford any more knocks in the next few weeks.
Bielsa will be thinking of all his possible options and one idea could be to recall Paudie O’Connor in January.
The 21-year-old is on loan at League One side Blackpool and he had the chance to prove his worth in last night’s clash with Arsenal in the EFL Cup.
But Bielsa would have received mixed signals from O’Connor if he was watching the game last night.
The young Irishman scored a header from a corner which got Blackpool back into the game.
Playing against 10-man Arsenal, O’Connor’s 66th minute header set up a dramatic finale as it reduced the deficit to 2-1.
But the hero soon turned into the villain with his antics late in the match.
O’Connor was shown a straight red card after he dangerously lunged at Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang on the halfway line.
It was a poor challenge from the former Limerick defender and Bielsa will question his temperament when making a decision on whether to recall him.
