Leeds United’s Ben White insists he’s fully focused on the next game despite some widespread praise for his performances at Elland Road.
The 22-year-old defender joined the Whites on a season-long loan in the summer from Premier League outfit Brighton and has taken the Championship by storm.
He’s been earning rave reviews from supporters and teammates for his individual displays, which have played a major role in the club’s eye-catching defensive record.
They have the best defensive record in the Championship, having conceded just eight goals from the opening 15 league matches.
White has played every league minute so far and been a rock in the heart of defence with his strength, intelligence and quality on the ball.
The English centre-back is delighted to hear praise, but wants to help Leeds achieve promotion to the top-flight and they currently sit third in the division.
“There is attention and praise and it’s really nice to see and hear it, but I know that I just have to keep focusing on making sure I’m the best I can be every time I step out onto the field,” White said, as quoted by Brighton’s official website.
“People keep saying how well I’m doing but I know I have to keep my head down and continue working hard for the team to make sure we get the results we need to achieve our aim at the end of the season.”

TBR’s View:
White’s response to his praise shows that he’s got a mature head on his young shoulders and has the mentality to play at the top level.
Leeds have struck gold with his loan this season and it seems inevitable that he will be in the Premier League next season in some capacity.
He’s got all the qualities of a modern day defender to succeed at the top and at times in the Championship it seems like men against boys for the Whites backline.
Marcelo Bielsa is certainly having a huge impact on him and he would surely be in everyone’s Championship team of the season so far if votes were cast now.
