Ben White has arrived at Leeds United this summer on a loan spell from Premier League club Brighton and he would be thrown straight into the lion’s den at the start of the season.
The 21-year-old has made the switch to Elland Road to help continue his development and the stars may be aligning for him to get a real shot at regular first-team football.
He is a young defender that has impressed during loan spells in League One and League Two in the past, but has not played any higher in the football league ladder.
The English centre-back will be hoping to prove himself at Championship level for the first time and should get opportunities at some point in the campaign.
Leeds have confirmed the exit of Pontus Jansson to Brentford, which leaves them majorly short of genuine first-team options in the heart of defence.
Captain Liam Cooper is the obvious starter for the Yorkshire club at centre-back, but then it comes down to Gaetano Berardi, teenager Pascal Struijk or versatile full-back Luke Ayling to potentially partner him.
It makes the loan addition of White look crucial and surely he’s got to be in the mix too come the beginning of the season, unless Leeds make a new signing.

White would be under a new kind of pressure if he was thrown straight into the team at Leeds, but the reward is colossal if he could handle it.
The centre-back could nail down regular football if he gets a chance under Bielsa and forms a partnership next to Cooper.
White showed during his brief spell at Peterborough last season that he’s extremely composed on the ball for a defender and is a decent passer.
He reads the game well for a young player and the 6ft ace is decent in the air too.
