Leeds United defender Barry Douglas posted on Instagram after he joined Blackburn Rovers on loan on Friday, which prompted responses from ex-Whites duo Robert Snodgrass and Eddie Nketiah.
Douglas, 31, has departed Elland Road on a season-long loan to join Championship outfit Blackburn, but the fact he’s entering the final year of his contract suggests his days with the Yorkshire club are numbered.
The left-back is a popular figure in the Leeds dressing room that has been a consistent performer since he joined from Wolverhampton Wanderers two years ago, but manager Marcelo Bielsa feels he’s got enough options in the full-back area and has granted his loan departure.
With the club now back in the Premier League, it looks like Stuart Dallas is the mainstay in the left-back position and there is also young academy graduate Leif Davis as his understudy within the squad.
Douglas, who has achieved promotion from the Championship with both Leeds and Wolves, is still a quality left-back that will hope he can get back to playing regularly with Blackburn and he may be a huge boost to their promotion ambitions.
The Scotsman has posted on social media following his late move on the final day of the EFL transfer window and shared his excitement.
West Ham and ex-Leeds winger Snodgrass, plus Arsenal and ex-Leeds forward Nketiah, were both quick to offer their luck to Douglas ahead of his spell at Blackburn.
