Leeds United youngster Jack Clarke is still very much a fringe man this season, but has unbelievable potential and has come into the first-team fold this season.

The 18-year-old made his fourth appearance of the season and of his Whites career on Tuesday night in the narrow win at home to Reading.

He is an exciting winger with great pace and trickery, which has seen him make some dazzling cameos off the bench.

Clarke’s next step at Elland Road is to be starting games and he could help push toward hat if he heeds the advice of his manager.

Marcelo Bielsa insists that Leeds playmaker Pablo Hernandez is the perfect mentor for the teenager and that studying his game will help.

“He (Clarke) has many things to learn yet and he has to look at Hernandez as an example,” Bielsa said in his press conference, as cited by Leeds Live.

“Hernandez has many details Clarke can learn only by looking at him. What Pablo does, you can’t teach in the game.”

Hernandez is a cut above most players in the Championship due to his footballing brain and the attacking midfielder tends to play the game at his pace.

The 33-year-old has been directly involved in 10 goals in just 12 Leeds games so far this campaign and is playing a vital role in a promotion bid.

Clarke’s decision making is one of the main areas he needs to improve, which is where teammate Hernandez excels and watching him is a great suggestion.

There certainly shouldn’t be too much pressure shoved on the youngster and of course he isn’t going to be the finished article yet, but there is a genuine opportunity for him to force his way into the starting XI if he just improves his final ball.
