Leeds could regret missing out on £18m Michael Cuisance – TBR View

Leeds United had a good transfer window this summer, bringing in a number of high quality players to help Marcelo Bielsa.

The Whites, backed by the charismatic Victor Orta when it comes to doing deals, signed the likes of Robin Koch, Rodrigo Moreno, and Diego Llorente for big money. All three add quality to the squad, while the likes of Jack Harrison returned for a third spell.

And the excellent start Leeds have got off to suggests that things are going to be just fine at Elland Road this season. And in the main, barring Koch, that is without the new signings being fully introduced to proceedings.

However, likes most clubs, there is always scope for further improvement and looking at a few who got away from Leeds – if reports are to be believed – then you can’t help but wonder if Michael Cuisance is one they’ll regret.

Cuisance reportedly failed a medical with the club. However, he has since signed for Marseille, claiming there is nothing wrong with him.

Leeds still hunting, suggests they wanted deal

If reports in the media are to be believed, Leeds may still look to bring in an attacking midfielder. Todd Cantwell is the name being mentioned most prominently.

It suggests, then, that Bielsa is not 100% happy with his attacking midfield options. The signing of Raphinha will add depth to the wings but with Pablo Hernandez out and Tyler Roberts not firing, there is a space in the squad or even the XI.

Cuisance could have been that option. At a reported £18m, too, you can’t help but think he’d have been a bit of a bargain. At the end of the day, you don’t play for Bayern Munich if you don’t have something about you!

So, for all Leeds’ good work in the market, there’s definitely a feeling of ‘one that got away’ when it comes to Cuisance. And given he has signed for Marseille, Leeds fans will be hoping he doesn’t have a stunning season to rub further salt in the wound.
