Leeds can’t afford to lose Kalvin Phillips to Everton amid scouting rumours

Leeds United’s promising start to the Championship campaign could easily be derailed if reports from TEAMtalk are to be believed, as they claim that Kalvin Phillips is being tracked by as many as 12 Premier League clubs.

Among them are believed to be giants like Arsenal, Tottenham and Everton, who could tempt the Whites with a significant offer for the 22-year-old.

A homegrown talent, Phillips has been key to Marcelo Bielsa’s side’s form early on in the 2018/19 campaign and losing him in January would be a real challenge.

His combative displays in the middle of the park have made him a fan favourite and exactly the kind of player that the club must hope to hold on to if they are to prove their Premier League credentials.

A well established figure at Elland Road, Phillips should relish the opportunity he has to play regular football with Leeds, rather than fighting for a spot with a so-called bigger club.

Whether Phillips can remain patient enough to join his boyhood club in the top flight is another matter, but based on the first two months of the season, he may not have long to wait.
