During the past week, Leeds United decided to terminate Paudie O’Connor’s loan spell at Blackpool and send him to Bradford City instead.
O’Connor has moved from one League One club to another but will be hoping for more action at Valley Parade.
The young defender was in and out of the team at Blackpool, racking up a total of 17 appearances.
Now he is set for a similar challenge at Bradford as he plans to use the second half of the season to convince Marcelo Bielsa he is ready for Leeds action next season.
With defensive issues at Elland Road, there are bound to be chances if O’Connor can realise his potential.
And Bielsa will be keeping a close eye on the 21-year-old this weekend if he makes his Bradford debut.
The Bantams travel to Oakwell to face high-flying Barnsley, who have been ruthless in attack this season.
Spearheaded by 6ft 5in star Kieffer Moore, who has struck 13 goals in 25 games, the Tykes are a constant threat.
O’Connor faces a major battle when he lines up against Moore, who is dominant in the air but confident with the ball at his feet too.
And Cauley Woodrow will line up alongside Moore. The 24-year-old has just signed permanently from Fulham and has seven goals in 15 games.
With 20 strikes between them this season, Moore and Woodrow are a handful and a baptism of fire is expected on O’Connor’s debut.
But if the Irishman can impress, he would send a message to his parent club ahead of next season.
