Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa has raved about England international Jack Grealish during his pre-Aston Villa press conference – as per Leeds Live – ahead of Friday night’s Premier League match at Villa Park.
Grealish, 25, was excellent last season after Villa were promoted to the Premier League. He had a hand in 18 goals during his 41 league and cup outings, and has even further improved that form this time around – shining in an in-form Villa side.
Dean Smith’s men have won all four Premier League games – keeping three clean sheets and conceding only twice to Liverpool during their crazy 7-2 win. Leeds suffered a 1-0 defeat to Wolves, and will be up against it away from home.
Speaking ahead of Friday’s clash, Bielsa was asked about England international Grealish and he responded by praising the effervescent playmaker – stating that his increased confidence is only going to improve Villa’s number 10.
“He’s a very good player. It’s normal for a player once he’s been called up for the national team that he’s going to be confident and grow,” Bielsa said, when asked about the impressive Villa man – who has had a hand in six goals in four league games.
TBR’s view – How can Leeds keep Grealish quiet?
The Villa star is on fire and it needed a player like Kalvin Phillips – who is in an equal vein of form – to stop £125,000-a-week (Telegraph) Grealish. A shoulder injury to Phillips, then, is bad timing not only for the player himself, but for Leeds too.
Pascal Struijk is set to replace Phillips – which will be just his ninth senior Leeds outing, and only his third Premier League outing. Will he be good enough to cope with Grealish? It remains to be seen, but it seems unlikely.
