Leeds United have hit a bump in the road during their season and it’s important they recover quickly to keep up their promotion bid.
The Whites do sit second in the Championship with a three-point cushion inside the automatic promotion spots, but have lost three of their last four matches.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side now face back-to-back games against the teams sat between fourth and sixth in the league table, which is why they can’t afford to stay off the pace for much longer.
There are a number of individuals that have seen there levels drop recently and Helder Costa is one of them to struggle at the worst time.
Costa appears to have returned to his early-season form in a Leeds shirt, which was a time when he struggled to make an impact and made poor decisions in the final third.
The 26-year-old did start to find his feet though during December and prove why he was such a highly-rated talent at Wolverhampton Wanderers.
He is a Portuguese right-winger that has four goals and four assists in 33 games across all competitions this season, but it should be far more considering the amount Leeds usually dominate possession.

Costa arrived in the summer on an initial season-long loan deal from Wolverhampton Wanderers before a permanent switch at the end of the season and is one of the most high-profile additions made by the club’s director of football Victor Orta.
Bielsa has shown a tremendous loyalty to him throughout the campaign by making him a mainstay in the side, with him on one flank and Jack Harrison on the other.
Costa needs to pull his socks up though to prove he has an important role to play in the rest of the season and January addition Ian Poveda should be in line to replace him in the starting XI if he doesn’t improve.
The speed machine is slipping back into a routine of bad decision-making for Leeds and they can’t afford to carry any passengers at this time of the season.
