Leeds Transfer News: Scott McTominay update emerges as Leeds chase January deals
Leeds United are among the clubs to have asked Manchester United about signing midfielder, Scott McTominay, during the January window.
McTominay has seen his role in the Man United team diminished a bit since the arrival of Casemeiro. The Brazilian midfielder has been a revelation, leaving McTominay left on the bench more often than not.
A host of clubs are said to be keen on signing him, with 90Min reporting today that Leeds are among the clubs to have asked United about his availability this month. Contrary to reports he McTominay might leave, though, the Manchester club are believed to have no interest in letting the Scot move on.
McTominay had previously been playing a big role at United before Erik ten Hag arrived. Since then, Ten Hag has found his best XI and sadly for McTominay, he isn’t in it.
Newcastle United are thought to have asked about signing McTominay as well. But United’s stance on the midfielder is apparently clear, with 90Min saying they won’t be selling.
The 26-year-old will be in no rush to leave Old Trafford. However, if the lack of game time continues, then a summer move might well be on the cards.
TBR’s View: McTominay would bring more energy for Leeds
You can see why Jesse Marsch might like McTominay. He’s a player who’s played at a huge club under big pressure and at times, done well. In fact, in the main, McTominay has no reason not to hold his head high at United.
He brings passion and energy into midfield areas and at Leeds, you could see him settling right in.
Of course, moving from Man United to Elland Road is always a bit of a touchy subject. Long-term, then, this one might need to gather more legs before it happens. Leeds fans, though, will be happy to see the club looking at such players.
