'Leeds are very much serious': Marsch to step up interest in 'complete' £30m player - journalist

Leeds United are “very much serious” about bringing Charles De Ketelaere to Elland Road, according to Ben Jacobs.

The CBS Sport journalist has also claimed the Whites will step up their interest in the Club Brugge ace now they’ve landed Tyler Adams.

Leeds have been heavily linked with De Ketelaere in recent weeks. However, recent reports have claimed the player favours a move to AC Milan.

That said, Leeds seem to have a financial advantage over the Rossoneri. According to HLN, the Whites satisfied Brugge with a £30million offer.

Another report (90Min) claimed Brugge are holding out for around £35million.

Meanwhile, Calciomercato claimed Milan are thinking of a player-plus-cash deal involving Andreas Jungdal or Emil Roback.

With Tyler Adams joining Leeds from RB Leipzig, the journalist believes the Whites’ interest will now go up a notch.

“De Ketelaere is the other one to watch,” he wrote.

“And Leeds are very much serious about bringing on board the Club Brugge forward.

“They’re in competition with Leicester, who are very much circling around the player too.

“I think that it is fair to say Adams’ arrival will turn Leeds’ interest in de Ketelaere into being highly, highly serious as well.”

“Thriving”

De Ketelaere is one of the most highly rated young players in Europe.

He has already made over 100 appearances for Brugge and has won eight Belgium caps.

De Ketelaere burst onto the scene in 2019, making his debut against Real Madrid in the Champions League that year.

In the years that followed, he impressed against the likes of Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain, and RB Leipzig.

De Ketelaere also helped Brugge win three Belgian First Division titles in a row.

His tally at the club reads 120 competitive appearances, 25 goals and 20 assists.

De Ketelaere registered 18 goals and 10 assists from 49 appearances in all competitions for Brugge last term.

“His versatility is a huge asset,” Brugge icon Gert Verheyen told Het Nieuwsblad – via Goal.com – of De Ketelaere.

“He is complete, with a mix of physical and technical qualities.

“If they play him as the striker for a whole season and he continues to play like this, he will score 15 goals.

“The amount that interested clubs will offer to buy him for will be unprecedented in Belgium. I really think that.”
